Meet the Team
Mariesha McAdoo, Data & Design Consultant
Mariesha (they/she) is a human-centered designer, data professional, and lifelong creative currently serving as the Data & Design Consultant for Canopy Mental Health & Consulting and Canopy Roots. Prior to joining Canopy, Mariesha was the Youth Innovation Director at Youthprise where they lead a portfolio of multi-year, intergenerational projects uplifting youth voice in design thinking, youth-directed philanthropy, and youth participatory action research.
Grounded in their lived experience as a queer, Black person from the rural South, Mariesha believes that information accessibility, data equity, and community-led design are integral tools for disrupting the longstanding systems that have harmed marginalized communities for generations. This perspective has guided Mariesha throughout their career and was central to their previous role with the City of Minneapolis’s Department of Performance Management & Innovation, where they supported the development of unarmed public safety responses.
A proud first-generation college student, Mariesha holds a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Certificate in Markets & Management Studies from Duke University. Outside of work, you can find Mariesha skating with Minnesota Roller Derby, loving on their many houseplants, and listening to an assortment of storytelling podcasts.
